2024 Rules Advisory Council Application

The Early Childhood Leadership Commission is leading the search for the Colorado Department of Early Childhood’s (CDEC) advisors to serve on the Rules Advisory Council (RAC). 

This 15-member Rules Advisory Council advises the CDEC Executive Director on developing rules to guide the functions, programs and services that the department oversees. The RAC represents a wide range of voices and perspectives from urban, suburban, and rural settings and who represent diversity in race, ethnicity, immigration status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, culture, and language. We strongly encourage applications from anyone who is passionate about the care and education of young children aged birth to five, their families, and the professionals who support them. Currently, 5 members’ terms will end on June 30, 2024; however, members currently serving are eligible for reappointment.  These positions include representatives of school based programs, licensed family child care homes, county departments of human services, expertise in the funding and rules pertaining to children with disabilities, and parents / family members /caregivers of a child currently enrolled in an early childhood program.

In April 2022, Governor Polis signed HB22-1295, creating the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC). This new department will coordinate a unified early childhood system and ensure the equitable distribution of resources and programming. In addition, the department will oversee the launch of universal preschool in 2023. The Early Childhood Leadership Commission led the search for the CDEC’s inaugural Rules Advisory Council (RAC).

What Does the Rules Advisory Council do?

The 15-member Rules Advisory Council will advise the CDEC Executive Director on developing rules to guide the functions, programs and services that the new department will oversee. The advice given by the RAC should be in the interest of all Colorado children, families, and early childhood professionals, centering on equitable distribution of resources and programming so that all children and families can access the services and supports they need to thrive.

El Consejo de Asesoría de Regulaciones del Departamento de la Primera Infancia de Colorado!

La Comisión de Liderazgo de la Primera Infancia dirige la búsqueda del primer grupo de asesores del Departamento de la Primera Infancia de Colorado (CDEC, por sus siglas en inglés) para formar parte del primer Consejo de Asesoría de Regulaciones (RAC, por sus siglas en inglés).

Antecedentes

En abril de 2022, el gobernador Polis firm HB22-1295, creando el Departamento de la Primera Infancia de Colorado. Este nuevo departamento coordinará un sistema para la primera infancia unificado y garantizará la distribución equitativa de los recursos y la programación. Además, el departamento supervisará el lanzamiento de la educación preescolar universal en 2023.

¿Qué hará el Consejo de Asesoría de Regulaciones?

El Consejo de Asesoría de Regulaciones (RAC), que consta de 15 miembros, asesorará al Director Ejecutivo del CDEC en el desarrollo de reglas para guiar las funciones, programas y servicios que el nuevo departamento supervisará. La asesoría proporcionada por el RAC debe velar por los intereses de todos los niños, familias y profesionales de la primera infancia de Colorado, centrándose en la distribución equitativa de los recursos y la programación, de modo que todos los niños y familias tengan acceso a los servicios y apoyos que necesitan para salir adelante.
